Summary:

On a rare cold and windy Friday evening, the Cove Tigers played a new opponent, the terrifying Lady Bugs. I added terrifying because Lady Bugs on its' own just sounds...well....lame. Unfortunately the friendly insects took down our mighty Tigers in a match that seemed to struggle to find a flow.

During the last blog I discussed the fact that the rumblings were beginning about a Division 8 Team (of 8) defeating two teams that were ranked higher than them. The net result was a reshuffling of the division and Friday's game was the first game post realignment. The Lady Bugs were moved down from a higher division to play against our Cove Tigers.

The Lady Bugs showed early on that they could move the ball with skill from the defense but were rarely rewarded for their efforts due to poor shooting. For the first two quarters the Tigers were reeling from wave after wave of Lady Bugs attacking and missing the conversion. After the half with a few pointers from the coach, the girls settled down and started to find the same chemistry that allowed them to dominate the last two games. Unfortunately, the poor goal shooting was endemic on this night and our shooting star, Ella K, struggled with multiple attempts. Ella G. also struggled, but was able to net 5 goals on the evening.

The Tigers defense took a step back this game after showing significant improvement in the last two outings. Once again, Sienna was out with an injury and her absence was notable as Trang and Ashley had difficulty for the first half of the game dealing with the pressure of the Lady Bugs. The duo settled into their game in the second half and finished very well, allowing the Tigers to attempt a comeback.

The Next Game will be a Guest Post from a certain player....perhaps our number one star (see below)!

Quote of the Game:

"That team came from a higher division. We played pretty well" - Ella G.

  1. It sounds like you guys played more than "well". I think you did an awesome job considering a team was pulled down from a higher division. Next time you'll do even better - that's what practice gets you! Good job Miss Ella..... love hearing about your games! xoxo Aunty Shelley.

  2. That was a higher up team so I think you played exceptionally well. In fact I think you played fantastically good! It must be hard to play a higher team and they only won by 3. That's not very much. I think you are going to do much better in your next game. And look at how many points you have made already ---- you must be one of the best on the team. So, for your next game, remember Nana is saying 'Go Tigers Go" Have fun playing cause that is what really counts.
Love you lots ...... Go Ella Go.
